We encourage all pupils to attend school regularly and punctually; thereby enabling them to take full advantage of the educational opportunities provided by the school.
We believe that prolonged and persistent absence, in any year group affects access to the curriculum which impacts on progress. In addition, repeated and consistent lateness is an unsettling start to the school day for both the child and school.
A positive approach to attendance and punctuality will benefit the pupils not only while they are at school but also when they move on into their chosen careers.
We always aim to achieve 100% attendance for all pupils, however sometimes this is not possible due to illness. Our minimum expectation is that all pupils will achieve a 97% attendance rate. Our school works closely with our Education Welfare Officer to identify and monitor children who are persistently absent.
Awards are given in assembly for good attendance.
