At. St. Joseph's, we always strive to provide quality experiences of prayer and liturgy that support pupils' spiritual development. These communal acts of prayer and liturgical celebrations form part of everyday life in our school. Every child is given the opportunity to pray, by giving praise and thanks to God, using traditional prayers of the Catholic Church as well as other sources of prayer. We encourage children to nurture a relationship with God through prayer and liturgy every day.
Children are introduced to a variety of different ways of praying:
At St. Joseph's we define prayer as 'talking to God'. It is a personal time where we open our hearts and minds to our Father. Prayer can be a powerful force for change in our lives and the importance of praying on a daily basis is instilled in our children. Communicating with God through prayer allows children to learn more about who He is and what plan He has for us.
Prayer and liturgy at St. Joseph's takes on many forms including Mass, Gospel assemblies, celebration assemblies, Collective Worship, hymn practice, services and prayer groups.
As May is a month when we especially remember Mary, we will be praying the Rosary daily in school. Please see links below to useful documents that you can use to join in and support us from home.
